Updated Tableau Public URLs

Linking to Tableau visualizations through a URL can be very useful. This includes links to download Tableau Public workbooks, create PDFs or PNG images and even download sheets as CSV files. For example, Andy Kriebel has a blog post entitled The Greatest Tableau Tip EVER: Exporting CSV made simple! where he outlines how to set up an icon in your Tableau workbook to export a custom CSV. Unfortunately, this no longer works with Tableau Public and his popular workbook no longer works to download a CSV.

Here are updated URLs to download the various file formats (insert you workbook name and worksheet name in the URL below). The key is to add a parameter to the URL, "?:showVizHome=no" for PDF, PNG and CSV files on Tableau Public.

Downloading a Tableau Workbook

https://public.tableau.com/workbooks/[Workbook Name].twb (this will download the Tableau workbook if permitted)

Download PDF, PNG and CSV

https://public.tableau.com/views/[Workbook Name]/[Worksheet Name].pdf?:showVizHome=no
https://public.tableau.com/views/[Workbook Name]/[Worksheet Name].png?:showVizHome=no
https://public.tableau.com/views/[Workbook Name]/[Worksheet Name].csv?:showVizHome=no

In addition, you can add filters and parameters to the URL as described in my Tableau Tips here. For example, add a year filter and create a PDF.
https://public.tableau.com/views/MassShootings_3/MassShootings.pdf?:showVizHome=no&year(Date)=2015

You can also create higher resolution grpahics as outlined in my blog post How to Create Vector Graphics and High Resolution Images of your Tableau Visualizations here

Tableau Server URLs

The URLs for Tableau Server do not need the extra parameter.

For example:
https://[Tableau Server]/views/[Workbook Name]/[Worksheet Name].pdf
